Let's Beat Plastic Pollution

This year's anniversary marks the 50th commemoration since the year 1973 when it was first celebrated. Cote d'Ivoire and the Netherlands are the host countries of this year's event. And the year's theme is # BeatPlasticPollution. The proliferation of plastics is a serious global concern, especially single-use plastics. 50% of the 400 million tons of plastics produced annually are single-use plastics. Only about 10 or so per cent of it is being recycled while the rest ends up in the environment. A report shows that 19-23 million tons of these plastics end up in lakes, rivers, and seas.
